Salento is a small paradise full of history and culture. Salento, also referred to as La Terra dei Due Mari, or the Land of the Two Seas, lies between the Adriatic and the Ionian seas, jutting out toward the East like a natural wharf. "Land of conquests, land that conquests", Salento is a strip of land covered by abundant vineyards and fertile olive-trees, a landscape that you will experience during your daily excursions.
In the nineteenth century, Salento was a popular destination for French, English, and German travelers called Grandtourists, who were enchanted by its landscapes and by the abundance of baroque art found in the squares, in the churches, and in the buildings and monuments of the town of Lecce and its neighboring villages.
